human interaction with the natural resource of water, and landmarks of local culture, are threatened by:<\/p><ul><li data-start=\"327\" data-end=\"373\">rising temperatures and decreasing rainfall,<\/li><li data-start=\"376\" data-end=\"415\">abandonment of traditional practices,<\/li><li data-start=\"418\" data-end=\"469\">human activity (overconsumption, drilling, etc.),<\/li><li data-start=\"472\" data-end=\"519\">lack of systematic monitoring and management.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong data-start=\"521\" data-end=\"546\">Consequences include:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li data-start=\"551\" data-end=\"600\">reduction of available water and surface flows,<\/li><li data-start=\"603\" data-end=\"635\">loss of local flora and fauna,<\/li><li data-start=\"638\" data-end=\"697\">impacts on agriculture, temperature, and quality of life,<\/li><li data-start=\"700\" data-end=\"736\">loss of Andros\u2019 natural character,<\/li><li data-start=\"739\" data-end=\"825\">loss of knowledge about their management and, ultimately, of a sustainable practice.<\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"827\" data-end=\"998\"><strong data-start=\"827\" data-end=\"839\">Our goal<\/strong> is to expand the study of the significance of springs and to revive their use, maintenance, and \u201ccultivation,\u201d mobilizing and inspiring the local community.<\/p><p data-start=\"1000\" data-end=\"1155\"><strong data-start=\"1000\" data-end=\"1014\">Our vision<\/strong> is the creation of an ongoing project for the management of Andros\u2019 water resources, following the steps of the <strong data-start=\"1127\" data-end=\"1144\">Andros Routes<\/strong> program.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div Springs of Andros \u2013 Participatory Observatory of Springs &amp; Surface Waters\u201d, supported by the Green Fund.<\/strong><\/a><\/p><p data-start=\"262\" data-end=\"985\">The initiative gives voice to the people of Andros \u2014 volunteers, students, residents, and visitors \u2014 who actively participate in data collection, learning, and the protection of the island\u2019s springs. Through educational and awareness-raising activities, as well as the production of audiovisual material, a culture of respect for the natural environment and the island\u2019s historical heritage is being revitalized.<br data-start=\"674\" data-end=\"677\" \/>At the same time, the project strengthens the foundation for scientifically informed and rational water management policies by providing reliable data and modern tools. In this way, it promotes transparency, collaboration, and the resilience of the local community in the face of climate change natural springs of Andros through the creation of a participatory Observatory of Springs and Surface Waters of Andros. The project is implemented with the financial support of the Cyclades Preservation Fund and the scientific guidance of experts in the fields of hydrogeology, meteorology, and environmental management. The initiative aspires to showcase the value of the island\u2019s springs as shared natural and cultural resources, raising awareness and encouraging sustainable water management with the aid of data-end=\"465\">The program focuses on recording, documenting, and highlighting historical practices of water collection and distribution in 13 villages of the central mountainous area of the island. It includes mapping springs and surface waters, as well as researching the traditional water distribution systems. The project emphasizes the importance of local knowledge and the community\u2019s relationship with water, contributing to the protection of intangible cultural heritage and raising environmental
